The power must be on before you can open the door, set the programs or start the machine. Start/Stop Button Once you've selected the program and options, press this button to start the washer. For regular laundry detergent, 1 to 3 tablespoons of detergent is all you need for a normal wash load. Also, the amount of detergent needed can vary due to differences in water hardness.
